Job Description

Role:

  • Lead Technical Superintendents during emergencies or critical situations, providing guidance, ensuring effective communication, and coordinating the team’s response.
  • Oversee the overall technical management of the fleet, including daily maintenance, repairs, budgeting, survey planning, vessel assessments, inspections, and dry docking.
  • Ensure assigned vessels remain technically operational and compliant with company requirements.
  • Engage Technical Superintendents in strategic discussions to utilize their expertise in fleet performance, operational challenges, and future planning, fostering ownership and accountability.
  • Ensure Technical Superintendents compile and submit detailed dry docking reports, including work summaries, budget analysis, and actual expenditures, within 30 days post-docking.
  • Identify, source, and procure technical and operational supplies for vessels at the most cost-effective rates.
  • Evaluate dry-docking and repair quotations, selecting the most suitable shipyards for maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of log processes and ensure the technical team adheres to schedules and completes vessel inspections as required.
  • Monitor the technical condition of vessels concerning classification certificates and survey requirements.
  • Oversee contractors’ maintenance and repair work on vessels.
  • Implement budgeting and cost-control measures for ship spares and docking needs.
  • Conduct technical compliance audits and investigations into defects or failures to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Promote and lead safety initiatives within the team, ensuring Technical Superintendents prioritize safety and reinforce its importance to the crew.
  • Collaborate with the HSE Management team to implement QHSE systems and policies effectively.
  • Regularly review and ensure compliance with recommended codes, guidelines, and quality & safety management standards.
  • Maintain a zero-loss-time accident record on vessels, ensuring all incidents and near misses are reported to prevent future occurrences.
  • Undertake any other technical-related assignments as required.

Requirements:

  • COC Class 1 with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Independent, resourceful, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and highly proactive in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Must be well-versed in ISM and ISPS regulations.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice when required.
