Job Description
- Oversee the overall management and technical operations of the fleet, including daily maintenance, repairs, budgeting, survey scheduling, vessel assessments, inspections, and dry docking.
- Implement budgeting strategies and cost-control measures for ship spare parts.
- Conduct monthly reviews of logs and processes and participate in vessel inspections.
- Monitor vessel technical status to ensure compliance with class certification and survey requirements.
- Supervise Technical Managers in overseeing vessel repairs and maintenance.
- Perform regular technical compliance audits and investigate defects or failures to ensure adherence to standards.
- Review and ensure compliance with recommended codes, guidelines, and Quality & Safety Management standards.
- Prepare and present the Monthly Management Review report on Fleet Performance.
- Communicate with Charterers on technical and operational matters, including vessel performance.
- Identify, source, and procure technical and operational supplies at the most cost-effective rates.
- Ensure proper maintenance and documentation of statutory, SOLAS, and equipment certificates (e.g., life rafts, compasses).
- Provide technical support and guidance to vessels both at home port and overseas.
- Evaluate dry-docking, repair quotations, and select shipyards for maintenance and repairs.
- Attend dry-docking, repairs, and surveys as needed, determining repair specifications.
- Compile and submit reports post-dry-docking, summarizing work completed, budgets, and actual expenditures.
- Undertake any other technical-related tasks as assigned by the organization.
