Job Description

Marine Engine Technical Expert

Provide advanced technical expertise to support safe, reliable and efficient operation of marine propulsion and auxiliary engine systems. Serve as a technical authority to diagnose complex engine-related issues and recommend practical, sustainable engineering solutions. Support vessel operators and internal teams across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region with high-quality technical guidance, balancing operational, technical and commercial requirements to ensure effective service delivery and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist support for marine engine operations, maintenance and performance challenges.

  • Troubleshoot complex faults and operational abnormalities using structured investigation and root cause analysis.

  • Recommend corrective actions and preventive measures to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Advise on maintenance strategies, best practices, upgrades and enhancements to improve lifecycle performance.

  • Review operational and performance data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities (efficiency, emissions and reliability).

  • Develop engineering recommendations, operational adjustments or system modifications to close performance gaps.

  • Support repairs, upgrades and major maintenance works in line with technical standards and safety requirements.

  • Coordinate with field service engineers, workshops, supply chain and external partners to ensure technical alignment and smooth execution.

  • Participate in work planning, technical risk assessments and post-job reviews to improve quality and outcomes.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with shipowners, operators, shipyards and technical partners.

  • Provide technical input for proposals and customer discussions, supporting commercial and business development activities.

  • Conduct vessel visits, site inspections and technical meetings to assess conditions and deliver targeted advice.

  • Prepare concise technical/service reports documenting findings, recommendations and actions taken.

  • Track recurring issues and support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, safety policies and industry standards.

  • Coordinate documentation, permits and logistics for support activities at ports, anchorages and shipyards.

  • Use digital monitoring tools/dashboards to track engine condition and performance indicators.

Qualifications

    • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    • Engine-related training or manufacturer certifications are advantageous.
