Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee vessel management to ensure the fleet operates at optimal performance and complies with international maritime regulations.

  • Lead preventive maintenance, dry dock planning, newbuild supervision, vessel procurement, manpower planning, and long-term fleet development.

  • Manage and develop a team of Fleet Managers and Deputy General Managers to maintain high technical standards and vessel seaworthiness.

  • Drive digital transformation and energy-efficiency initiatives across the fleet.

  • Oversee review, selection, and delivery of newbuild vessels in line with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage budgets and ensure crew are equipped with updated technical knowledge and training for onboard application and inspection readiness.

  • Attend vessels at port or anchorage, liaise with Masters/Chief Engineers on maintenance issues, and review requisitions for spares and supplies.

  • Ensure repair, maintenance, dry docking, bunkering, and HSE procedures are established and effectively implemented.

  • Ensure safe and high-quality dry dockings with alignment of technical and financial requirements.

  • Conduct trend analysis to support strategic fleet-management decisions.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives and stay updated on developments in maritime regulations.

  • Perform additional duties as required.


Requirements (Must-Have)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Maritime Operations, or a related field.

  • Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) with at least 20 years’ relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in ship management or a related leadership role.

  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and lead technical teams.

  • Experience managing or sailing on vessels with alternative low-carbon fuels such as LNG or Methanol.

  • Hands-on experience with dual-fuel vessel management, or newbuild delivery involving DF propulsion systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of dry docking standards, class/flag requirements, and international regulatory compliance.

  • Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, CSO duties, and current maritime industry developments.
