- Oversee the daily technical and operational issues of a fleet of vessels, including overall maintenance, general condition, operational efficiency, and repairs.
- Ensure strict management of operating budget costs, including financial reporting and the preparation of yearly budgets for vessels.
- Make sure vessels are certified following international standards. Schedule surveys and inspections, ensuring that all class conditions are fulfilled by the designated deadlines.
- Accountable for Drydock maintenance – specifications, scheduling, implementation, and budget/billing resolution.
- Perform Management Evaluations. Determine aspects needing enhancement and confirm the execution of corrective and preventive measures.
- Evaluate and reply to technical reports on vessels and monitor equipment performance. Examine record maintenance and documentation of vessels to ensure adherence to international regulations and the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
- Coordinate with relevant parties like Class, Oil Majors, Ship Owners, Suppliers, and other stakeholders to guarantee vessels.
- Establish and uphold a secure, eco-friendly, reliable, and economical standard in line with corporate policies and protocols.
- Maintain uniform, professional, and effective service delivery standards at all times.
- Guide and instruct officers and crew.
- Evaluate Officers and suggest appropriate actions.
- Conduct interviews with engine officers to assess their eligibility for selection or promotion.
- Investigate incidents/accidents on board when assigned by the Fleet Managers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possessing a Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency.
- Experience sailing on MAN B&W ME type engines as Chief Engineer or 1st Assistant Engineer preferred on LPG/Ethylene/Ethane vessels.
- Driven by technology, adept in a digital workspace, systematic in process enhancement.
- No prior shore experience needed.
- Capability to travel with little warning and handle a 24/7 on-call way of life.
- Capability to create, enhance, and execute secure and economical technical vessel management procedures.
- A comprehensive understanding of the rules and regulations that oversee vessel management.
