Job Description
Key Responsibilities

Report to the Head of Technical (HoT) and lead incident, accident, technical breakdown, and near-miss investigations across the fleet.

Manage investigations as end-to-end projects, ensuring timely completion, accurate reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Conduct onboard and shore-based investigations, including evidence collection, structured interviews, and documentation review.

Apply recognised root-cause analysis methodologies to identify systemic, technical, and human-factor issues.

Issue preliminary and final investigation reports to support operational, commercial, and vetting requirements.

Recommend and track corrective and preventive actions, ensuring effective implementation and reporting to senior management.

Monitor incident trends, repetitive defects, and weak signals to proactively reduce risk and prevent recurrence.

Drive fleetwide technical and safety improvements through collaboration with Technical, Marine, Vetting, HSEQC, Crewing, Procurement, and Projects teams.

Embed lessons learned into company procedures, training programs, and competency frameworks in partnership with Learning & Development.

Support audits, inspections, safety campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a strong learning and accountability culture.

Serve as the key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including Oil Majors, Class, Flag, and P&I, on investigation and technical excellence matters.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Class 1 COC (Chief Engineer).
- Minimum:
- 1 year sailing as Chief Engineer on tankers OR
- 2 years as Second Engineer on tankers.
- 1+ year experience as Ship Manager or similar role OR 3+ years in a tanker company in a comparable profile.
- Able to travel at short notice; comfortable with 24/7 on-call responsibilities.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Strong time management, independent, outcome-driven, and well-organized.
- Effective team player with strong cross-functional coordination skills.
