Job Description

Responsibilities

Commercial & Brokerage Activities

  • Source and develop new business opportunities within the chemical tanker market.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with shipowners, charterers, commodity traders, and other market participants.
  • Identify suitable cargo and vessel opportunities to maximize commercial returns.
  • Negotiate freight rates, charter party terms, and commercial agreements.
  • Monitor market movements, freight trends, vessel availability, and cargo demand.
  • Prepare and circulate market reports, cargo positions, and vessel availability updates.
  • Execute voyage and time charter fixtures from negotiation through conclusion.

Operational Coordination

  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth execution of fixtures.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, cargo nominations, and voyage performance.
  • Coordinate with owners, charterers, agents, and terminal operators on operational matters.
  • Address and resolve commercial and operational issues arising during voyage execution.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build long-term partnerships with existing clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular client visits and business development activities.
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic advice to customers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipbroking, chartering, or commercial tanker operations.
  • Prior experience handling chemical tankers is essential.
  • Strong understanding of tanker chartering practices, freight markets, and charter party agreements.
  • Established network within the chemical, petroleum, or tanker shipping sectors will be advantageous.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience broking chemical and clean petroleum product (CPP) cargoes.
  • Familiarity with voyage estimation, freight calculations, and tanker market analysis.
  • Existing relationships with chemical producers, traders, charterers, or shipowners.
  • Exposure to regional and international tanker trades.
