Sales & Operations Manager – Marine Chemicals

We are seeking a commercially driven and hands-on Sales & Operations Manager for a marine chemicals company. The role will be responsible for driving business growth, managing key customer relationships, overseeing daily operations, and leading a team to ensure smooth service delivery to clients within the maritime sector.

The ideal candidate should have prior experience in a leadership role, with proven experience managing a team either within sales, operations, or overall general management. Experience within marine, shipping, chemicals, lubricants, technical services, or related industries will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth and expand the company’s customer base within the marine and shipping industry.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, operators, offshore companies, and other maritime stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and potential partnerships to support business expansion.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and support pricing and sales strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to support business planning.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products and services.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics, procurement, warehouse, technical, and customer service teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor inventory movement, service quality, delivery schedules, operational costs, and overall efficiency.
  • Resolve customer issues, operational challenges, and service escalations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate the sales and/or operations team to achieve business objectives.
  • Set clear targets, monitor team performance, and provide coaching, guidance, and support where required.
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven working culture.
  • Support senior management in implementing business strategies, process improvements, and growth initiatives.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, operational reports, performance updates, and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Engineering, Supply Chain, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in sales, operations, business development, or general management.
  • Prior leadership experience managing a team is required.
  • Experience in marine chemicals, marine lubricants, shipping, offshore, technical services, or related industries will be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities and drive revenue growth.
  • Good understanding of operational workflows, customer service delivery, logistics, and inventory coordination.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage both commercial and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working across different functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to prepare reports, forecasts, and business updates.
