Job Description
We are seeking a Project Engineer to assist in the execution and delivery of marine and offshore fire protection system projects. This position involves coordinating engineering activities, managing project documentation, supporting procurement, and overseeing testing and site work to ensure systems are completed in accordance with technical specifications, classification standards, and project timelines.
Responsibilities
• Oversee assigned projects throughout the full lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and handover
• Review technical specifications, engineering drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and system interface requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Ensure fire protection systems meet applicable regulations and standards such as SOLAS, FSS Code, NFPA, ISO, and classification society rules (DNV, ABS, BV, RINA, etc.)
• Work closely with internal departments including engineering, procurement, QA/QC, production, and site teams to ensure effective project coordination
• Communicate and coordinate with external parties including shipyards, clients, EPC contractors, suppliers, and classification societies
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and integration issues involving mechanical, piping, electrical, and control systems
• Track project progress, schedules, and potential risks, and assist in implementing corrective actions where necessary
• Prepare and maintain engineering deliverables such as calculations, datasheets, material take-offs, testing procedures, commissioning documentation, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals
• Ensure proper document management, including version control, timely submissions, and approval tracking
• Assist with procurement processes, including preparation of technical requisitions and coordination with vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements and delivery timelines
• Support and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities
• Coordinate and support installation activities at shipyards or offshore locations when required
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety requirements, and site procedures
Requirements
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related Engineering field
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in marine or offshore project engineering
• Experience with fire protection systems such as foam, deluge, water mist, or gaseous suppression systems is an advantage
• Familiarity with marine and offshore standards and classification requirements such as SOLAS, FSS Code, and class societies (DNV, ABS, BV, RINA)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including P&IDs, layouts, and technical schematics
• Knowledge of fire protection system design, hydraulic calculations, or hazardous area requirements will be beneficial
• Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning, or shipyard/offshore installation support is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD and document control systems is an added advantage
• Strong organizational, documentation, and coordination abilities
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
• Able to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines
• Detail-oriented, responsible, and proactive in resolving issues
