Job Description

  • Responsible for managing the operational procurement process for ship requirements.
  • Negotiate and communicate with suppliers to specify quality, quantity, and delivery timelines.
  • Organize, schedule, and track logistics to ensure items are delivered on board cost-effectively and on time.
  • Monitor the schedules of assigned vessels to streamline and optimize on-board deliveries.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings and other relevant activities.
  • Process ship requisitions following the Company’s procurement procedures and system.
  • Evaluate supplier bids, making recommendations based on both commercial and technical considerations.
  • Issue purchase orders post-approval.
  • Prepare items for shipment, arrange transportation, and coordinate supply deliveries to vessels.
  • Update goods receipt records for each order.
  • Process invoices for orders created or associated with assigned vessels.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers, internal departments, and vessels.
  • Address vessel needs, manage problem resolution, and handle short lead-time orders.
  • Collect and process feedback from vessels regarding the quality and timeliness of delivered goods and services.
  • Provide relevant monthly/weekly reports to the Technical Superintendent.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies and standard procedures.
  • Reports directly to the Technical Superintendent.

Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the maritime industry.
  • Mature, detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and hands-on.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in procurement operating systems.
  • Team player, able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
