Job Description
Overview:
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for managing the electrical, electronic, and automation systems across the company’s fleet. This role ensures that these systems function efficiently, comply with regulatory requirements, and receive timely maintenance and repairs.
Role:
- Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and automation systems on vessels.
- Participate in newbuild and retrofit projects, ensuring that equipment and systems are thoroughly reviewed for optimal operability.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure adherence to international maritime regulations and company standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to shipboard personnel regarding electrical and automation systems.
- Plan and coordinate dry-docking, repairs, and scheduled maintenance for electrical equipment.
- Collaborate with the technical and marine teams to enhance vessel performance and operational efficiency.
- Manage and monitor vessel-specific spare parts inventory, working closely with shipboard staff, operations, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of electrical components.
- Stay updated on advancements in maritime electrical systems and best practices to improve fleet operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering is preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical, automation, and instrumentation systems, particularly for tanker vessels, is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to travel to vessels and shipyards as needed.
- Sailing experience is not required but is considered a plus.
- Experience in project management, particularly vessel retrofits and upgrades.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in maritime electrical systems.
