Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct survey and inspection of vessels under construction and ships-in-operation to ensure compliance with regional and international maritime regulations and class requirements
- Carry out vessel inspection and audits for vessel maintenance, repair, newbuilds and modifications
- Conduct material identification and vendor inspection surveys
- Ensure vessel’s compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS and industry specific standards
- Ensure compliance with government agencies and regulatory authorities
- Verify vessel conditions and compliance with safety, technical and environmental standards
- Prepare detailed survey reports, inspection findings and recommendation to Client in-line with industry standards
- Regular liaison with vessel owners, contractors and operators to ensure expectations are met
- Identify areas for improvement to contribute to continuous service quality enhancement
Requirements
- At least a Bachelor Degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering or equivalent
- At least 5 years of working experience in the maritime industry
- At least 3 years of experience as a marine surveyor
- Expert knowledge in international maritime regulations like SOLAS, MARPOL and ISPS codes, and Classification rules
- Good experience in carrying out inspections for oil & gas projects and merchant vessels
- Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Candidates who are members of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) will have added advantage
- Knowledge in towing survey and single direct voyage permissions will be desirable
