Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Champion and enforce vessel compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Ensure vessels are operationally ready and capable of executing voyages and cargo operations safely and efficiently.
    • Organise, coordinate, and manage all statutory, class, and RO audits and inspections, including ISM, ISPS, and MLC.
    • Plan, administer, and follow up on vetting inspections, including preparation and submission through the OCIMF SIRE system.
    • Manage navigational safety oversight, including the review and endorsement of passage plans and the conduct of navigation audits.
    • Ensure vessels comply with terminal rules, operator instructions, oil major standards, and charterer requirements.
    • Handle and coordinate matters relating to Flag State and Port State authorities.
    • Ensure Q88 and HVPQ information is accurate, complete, and continuously updated.
    • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on changes in legislation, requirements, and industry best practices.
    • Review, maintain, and enhance the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
    • Provide vessels with clear guidance, instructions, and relevant information to support compliance and safe operations.
    • Support, coach, and enforce standards related to crew competence, performance, and discipline.
    • Assist with operational and technical enquiries regarding vessel capabilities and performance.
    • Participate as a core member of the company’s emergency response team.
    • Undertake additional duties, assignments, and projects as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • Seagoing experience as a Master (minimum CoC Class 1 or 2), or at least 2 years of relevant shore-based experience in HSE management and regulatory compliance for product or chemical tankers.
    • Sound knowledge of international and local maritime regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and professional conduct.
    • Strong leadership, collaboration, management, and communication capabilities.
    • Ability to lead by example and positively influence and motivate others.
