Job Description

  • The Marine Superintendent is tasked with managing the marine operations of company vessels
  • When onboard, the Marine Superintendent may provide advice to the Master on navigation, mooring, and cargo operations, acting under the Master’s discretion.
  • Responsible for fostering effective communication and collaboration with charterers and other stakeholders involved in vessel operations.
  • Maintains safety and environmental protection as top operational priorities.
  • Plays a key role in supporting the company’s performance targets and KPIs.
  • Ensures proper execution of cargo and ballast operations and reviews associated plans to confirm all safety requirements are met.
  • Works alongside the HSEQ team to ensure navigation procedures comply with industry best practices and are supported through adequate controls, equipment, and crew training.
  • Monitors vessel operations to verify compliance with internal company procedures and policies.
  • Implements, maintains, and updates procedures aligned with the company’s goals and operational standards.
  • Plans and manages vessel vetting inspections, including SIRE, CDI, and RightShip, and ensures timely closure of any inspection findings.
  • Coordinates inspections carried out by Flag State Control, Port State Control, and the US Coast Guard, including handling of any deficiencies identified.
  • Oversees vessel compliance with MARPOL and OPA-90 regulations.
  • Coordinates the development, approval, and maintenance of emergency response and pollution prevention plans such as OPA-90/VRP, SMPEP, and SOPEP.
  • Leads the registration process and manages the takeover or handover of vessels as required.
  • Handles the preparation and updating of the Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR).
  • Tracks and ensures follow-up on reported non-conformities and the completion of corrective action plans.
