Job Description
Role:
- Ensure proper implementation of cargo and ballast procedures onboard, verifying compliance of cargo and ballast plans with all safety requirements.
- Collaborate with HSEQ to ensure navigation practices and procedures align with industry standards, implementing appropriate controls, equipment, and training.
- Monitor vessel operations to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, verifying effective onboard implementation.
- Establish and update practical procedures to support the company’s objectives and policies as necessary.
- Coordinate and arrange vetting inspections (SIRE, CDI, RightShip) for vessels and oversee the closure of any identified findings.
- Manage Flag State Control (FSC), Port State Control (PSC), and United States Coast Guard (USCG) inspections, addressing and resolving any deficiencies.
- Ensure vessel operations comply with MARPOL and OPA-90 regulations.
- Oversee the preparation, approval, and maintenance of OPA-90/VRP, SMPEP, SOPEP, and other flag state-mandated preparedness plans.
- Manage the registration and transition process for new vessel acquisitions and handovers.
- Coordinate the issuance and amendments of the Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR).
- Track and follow up on Non-Conformities and planned Corrective Actions.
- Keep the Vessel Manager, Fleet Manager, and Senior Marine Manager informed about relevant Marine Superintendent responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Must have served at sea, attaining the rank of Master or Chief Mate, or held an equivalent shore-based position for at least two years.
- Should possess experience in managing Marine and HSEQ matters.
