Job Description

  • Manage daily maritime activities of designated vessels (safety, efficiency, and adherence to regulations)
  • Make certain that ships adhere to global regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL).
  • Track ship performance, fuel efficiency, and operational key performance indicators.
  • Offer technical and operational assistance to onboard crew.
  • Perform inspections of vessels, audits, and safety evaluations.
  • Examine occurrences, mishaps, and apply remedial measures.
  • Collaborate with vessel owners, chartering companies, and harbor officials.
  • Schedule and oversee dry dockings, repairs, and maintenance timelines.
  • Guarantee effective crew oversight in collaboration with the crewing department.
  • Examine journey reports, logs, and operational records.
  • Oversee budgets associated with marine activities and expense management.
  • Assist with emergency response and crisis management as needed.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Master Mariner (Class 1) or Chief Engineer certification
  • At least 5–10 years of maritime experience, including command-level expertise.
  • Previous experience onshore as a Marine Superintendent is beneficial.
  • Thorough understanding of IMO regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL)
  • Familiarity with vessel evaluations (PSC, Flag State, Vetting)
  • Strong grasp of safety management systems (SMS)
  • Robust leadership and effective decision-making abilities
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Capacity to oversee various vessels and competing priorities at the same time.
  • Eagerness to travel for vessel inspections and audits
