Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day marine operations of assigned bulk carrier vessels
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and company policies
  • Monitor vessel performance, navigation standards, and safety practices
  • Conduct vessel inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Provide guidance and support to Masters and shipboard teams on operational and safety matters
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure vessels are maintained in accordance with ISM and ISPS Code requirements
  • Liaise with internal departments, external stakeholders, and authorities on marine-related matters
  • Participate in emergency response and crisis management when required
  • Support vetting inspections (e.g. RightShip, PSC, Flag State) and ensure vessels maintain high ratings

Requirements

  • Master Mariner (Class 1 CoC) is preferred
  • Minimum 2–3 years of shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent (bulk carriers)
  • Prior sailing experience as Master or Chief Officer on bulk carriers
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry standards
  • Experience with vetting inspections (RightShip, PSC, SIRE equivalent for bulk if applicable)
  • Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, and safety management systems
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple vessels
