Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day marine operations of assigned bulk carrier vessels
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and company policies
- Monitor vessel performance, navigation standards, and safety practices
- Conduct vessel inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Provide guidance and support to Masters and shipboard teams on operational and safety matters
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure vessels are maintained in accordance with ISM and ISPS Code requirements
- Liaise with internal departments, external stakeholders, and authorities on marine-related matters
- Participate in emergency response and crisis management when required
- Support vetting inspections (e.g. RightShip, PSC, Flag State) and ensure vessels maintain high ratings
Requirements
- Master Mariner (Class 1 CoC) is preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent (bulk carriers)
- Prior sailing experience as Master or Chief Officer on bulk carriers
- Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry standards
- Experience with vetting inspections (RightShip, PSC, SIRE equivalent for bulk if applicable)
- Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, and safety management systems
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple vessels
