Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other components.
- Perform repairs on inboard and outboard engines, including fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance to ensure all shipboard systems are operating effectively.
- Ensure the ship and engine room are kept clean when onboard.
- Provide detailed reports on work completed and explain repairs and services to customers.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations related to marine service and repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, including time, parts used, and labor.
- Use service management software to log and track repairs and maintenance tasks.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine service and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.
- Knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Capability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
