Job Description
Responsibilities:
– Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other components.
– Perform repairs on inboard and outboard engines, including fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
– Conduct routine maintenance to ensure all shipboard systems are operating effectively.
– Ensure the ship and engine room are kept clean when onboard.
– Provide detailed reports on work completed and explain repairs and services to customers.
Safety and Compliance:
– Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
– Ensure adherence to environmental regulations related to marine service and repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
– Maintain accurate records of services performed, including time, parts used, and labor.
– Use service management software to log and track repairs and maintenance tasks.
Team Collaboration:
– Collaborate with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
– Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.
– Perform any other assigned duties.
Job Requirements:
– Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or related field preferred.
– Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine service and repair.
– Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
– Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.
– Knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps.
– Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
– Capability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
