Job Description

This role involves assessing client needs, negotiating with insurance underwriters, and providing expert advice on marine insurance solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to understand their marine insurance requirements, assess risks associated with their maritime activities, and provide tailored insurance recommendations.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, regulations, and developments in the marine insurance industry, and apply this knowledge to provide informed advice to clients.
  • Source and negotiate insurance policies with various underwriters to secure comprehensive and cost-effective coverage for clients’ marine assets, including ships, cargo, and offshore facilities.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of clients’ maritime operations, considering factors such as vessel type, cargo, routes, and potential hazards, to accurately determine appropriate coverage levels.
  • Work with underwriters to customize insurance policies to meet the specific needs of clients, ensuring that all potential risks are adequately covered.
  • Assist clients in the event of a claim, acting as an intermediary between clients and insurance companies to expedite the claims process and ensure fair settlements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance underwriters, maritime industry professionals, and clients to enhance the brokerage’s reputation and business network.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, policies, and transactions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Insurance, or Maritime Studies.
  • In-depth understanding of marine insurance products, underwriting practices, and industry regulations to provide expert advice to clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, underwriters, and other stakeholders.
