Job Description

Overview
Responsible for technical analysis and verification of marine electrical systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant AC/DC power architectures in line with class and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess AC/DC marine power system designs, including integration and operating philosophies.

  • Perform technical reviews of power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, harmonics, stability, and power quality).

  • Evaluate system layouts such as switchboards, distribution, propulsion, and emergency power systems.

  • Assess hybrid and alternative power configurations (ESS/batteries, DC grids, converters, drives).

  • Review vendor submissions, SLDs, schematics, and electrical calculations.

  • Ensure compliance with class and regulatory standards (e.g. DNV, ABS, LR, IEC, IMO).

  • Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and provide technical recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical / Power Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in marine, offshore, industrial, or power systems.

  • Strong experience in AC/DC network analysis and protection philosophy.

  • Proficient in power system software (ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or similar).

Added Advantage

  • Exposure to hybrid propulsion, microgrids, and energy storage systems.

  • Knowledge of power electronics, converters, and VFDs.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
