Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall marine management of the company’s in-house dry bulk fleet.
- Develop and implement marine policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Oversee navigational safety, marine assurance, vetting readiness, and regulatory compliance across the fleet.
- Ensure compliance with IMO regulations, Flag State requirements, Class rules, and industry best practices.
- Provide operational guidance and support to Masters, Marine Superintendents, and shore-based teams on navigational, cargo, and safety matters.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor fleet performance, identify operational risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support dry dock planning, vessel inspections, audits, and management reviews where required.
- Work closely with commercial, technical, crewing, and HSSEQ teams to optimise vessel performance and operational efficiency.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the marine team while fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Represent the company during external audits, customer meetings, and regulatory inspections.
Requirements
- Master Mariner (Class 1 Certificate of Competency) with command experience on dry bulk vessels.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant maritime experience, including significant shore-based marine management experience.
- Proven experience managing an in-house dry bulk fleet at a senior management level.
- Strong knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, OCIMF, RightShip requirements, and other international maritime regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing Marine Superintendents and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of navigational safety, marine operations, incident investigation, and marine assurance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to be based in Dubai with occasional international travel.
