Job Description
I am assisting a reputable marine consultancy in identifying an experienced Marine Surveyor to join their team. This role will focus heavily on investigating reported cargo damage, loss, and contamination cases for marine insurers and P&I correspondents, while also performing general marine condition surveys. It is a strong opportunity for a senior seafarer looking to transition into a consultancy environment where technical expertise and objective reporting are key.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out general marine condition surveys across various vessel types.

Lead specialised inspections related to cargo damage, cargo loss, and contamination issues.

Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely survey reports for P&I correspondents, insurers, and other clients.

Attend vessels at port and anchorage, including boarding via rope ladder when required.

Liaise professionally with shipowners, operators, charterers, insurers, and other maritime stakeholders.

Ensure impartiality, critical thinking, and high analytical standards in all assessments.

Participate in ongoing training provided by the consultancy.
Qualifications & Requirements

Chief Officer rank with a valid Master Mariner Licence (mandatory requirement).

Tanker experience preferred due to the nature of cargo-related assignments.

Degree in Maritime Studies, Port Operations, Marine Engineering, or similar field.

Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.

Able to work independently and manage casework with minimal supervision.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when engaging with clients.

Physically fit and comfortable attending vessels at anchorage via rope ladder.

Full training and guidance will be provided for specialised surveying work.
