Job Description

Direct Search Global is working with a Maritime company to fill the role of Manager Process Safety in their Malaysia office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and facilitate the implementation and advancement of the Group Health, Safety, and Environment (GHSE) Process Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with the Group’s objectives, strategies, and adherence to regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Establish standards and guidelines for Process Safety Risk Assessment tools, measurement, and operations in accordance with regulatory/legislative requirements and industry best practices, aiming to proactively prevent potential process safety crises and safeguard overall assets of the Group.
  • Strategize, execute, and oversee Process Safety Risk Assessments including Process Safety Hazards & Effect Register (HER), and Safety Case through thorough planning, collaboration, and coordination with relevant internal stakeholders, assessing potential process safety risks.
  • Coordinate risk assessments for critical activities related to process safety utilizing appropriate risk assessment tools such as HAZOP, LOPA, PASR, and “What If Risk Assessment” to ensure determination of all mitigation actions and subsequent follow-up on improvement actions.
  • Aid in the development and deployment of Process Safety Hazard and Effect Register (HER), and Safety Case by consolidating and validating process safety performance information to ensure critical process safety risk data is effectively managed and readily accessible by relevant users.
  • Analyze process safety risk assessment performance as a basis/input for management review.
  • Monitor and analyze the implementation of safety risk assessments, specifically Process Safety Incident Investigations, through consolidation and validation of current practices, and participation in process safety audits.
  • Plan and execute process safety training and programs for the group by coordinating overall program details, resources, objectives, etc., ensuring robust and cohesive efforts in addressing process safety risks.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of experience in leading Process Safety Management studies in Oil & Gas/Chemical Industry.
  • Experience in Process Safety consultancy or holding managerial positions in Process Safety is an added advantage.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Safety/Instrumentation/Industrial Engineering or a related safety discipline.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team management skills.
