Job Description

Direct Search Global is working with one of the world’s largest shipbuilders to hire a Lead Electrical Engineer to work with them for a 2-year contract in China.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategize, organize, and execute comprehensive design tasks involving the assessment, selection, and application of engineering methodologies, processes, and standards within a project framework.
  • Lead a team of electrical design professionals, including engineers and designers, overseeing the coordination of detailed design phases for electrical and telecom engineering projects.
  • Provide valuable inputs for project design criteria, P&ID development, and equipment listings, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Contribute to the creation or assist in developing single-line diagrams and telecom system schematics.
  • Conduct in-depth power system analyses and develop power generation and distribution systems/equipment plans.
  • Review bid analyses and offer recommendations, facilitating informed decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate engineering activities within designated areas among specialized and interdisciplinary teams, fostering effective communication with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and delegate tasks to subordinate engineers, designers, drafters, technicians, and support staff involved in specific project assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a recognized degree in a relevant engineering or scientific field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrate extensive technical expertise in one or more specialized areas such as Gas, Insulated Switchgear, High Voltage Installations, Prefabricated Substations, Electrical System Design and Analysis, among others.
  • Proficient in discipline-specific engineering techniques, system design principles, and engineering calculations, with a sound understanding of industry codes, standards, and design criteria.
  • Familiarity with engineering applications, including CAD (2-D and 3-D), CAE, and other relevant software, to effectively perform design tasks.
  • Knowledgeable about construction methodologies, material applications, and associated cost estimations, with an understanding of project planning and scheduling.
  • Hands-on experience with ETAP software/application is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in handling Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed design processes for large-scale projects is advantageous.
