Job Description

  • Lead and support a team of voyage operations specialists while independently managing an operational control desk.
  • Oversee daily marine voyage activities, ensuring all operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with business requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and development for voyage coordinators to ensure high performance and capability growth.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for assigned vessel operations, including 24/7 operational support where required.
  • Coordinate closely with vessel owners, agents, terminal operators, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth voyage execution.
  • Monitor and manage vessel utilization to optimize operational efficiency and commercial value.
  • Support all voyage operations functions, including acting as backup for other operational roles when needed.
  • Ensure proper use and understanding of marine operational systems and tools.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of operational procedures, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Identify operational risks and ensure marine liability exposure is properly managed.
  • Support change initiatives and assess service providers and partners for performance and value contribution.
  • Maintain high standards of communication, professionalism, and responsiveness in all operational interactions.

 

 

Required Experience & Skills

  • Prior experience in marine operations, ideally involving tanker, barge, or similar commercial vessel operations.
  • Strong understanding of marine logistics, voyage execution, dispatching, and related operational processes.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, time-sensitive operational environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to guide and influence others.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities across internal and external parties.
  • Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn specialized marine systems.
  • Preferred Attributes
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience in a maritime, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Exposure to marine operational systems such as voyage management or shipping execution platforms.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to support operational decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions in a dynamic, global environment.
