Job Description
- Lead and support a team of voyage operations specialists while independently managing an operational control desk.
- Oversee daily marine voyage activities, ensuring all operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with business requirements.
- Provide guidance, training, and development for voyage coordinators to ensure high performance and capability growth.
- Act as a primary point of contact for assigned vessel operations, including 24/7 operational support where required.
- Coordinate closely with vessel owners, agents, terminal operators, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth voyage execution.
- Monitor and manage vessel utilization to optimize operational efficiency and commercial value.
- Support all voyage operations functions, including acting as backup for other operational roles when needed.
- Ensure proper use and understanding of marine operational systems and tools.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of operational procedures, systems, and performance metrics.
- Identify operational risks and ensure marine liability exposure is properly managed.
- Support change initiatives and assess service providers and partners for performance and value contribution.
- Maintain high standards of communication, professionalism, and responsiveness in all operational interactions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Prior experience in marine operations, ideally involving tanker, barge, or similar commercial vessel operations.
- Strong understanding of marine logistics, voyage execution, dispatching, and related operational processes.
- Experience working in fast-paced, time-sensitive operational environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to guide and influence others.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities across internal and external parties.
- Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn specialized marine systems.
- Preferred Attributes
- Degree or equivalent relevant experience in a maritime, engineering, or related discipline.
