Job Description

Role:

  • Safety First: Safety is the top priority. The Fleet Manager has the authority and accountability to make decisions that ensure continuous safe operations and the well-being of all personnel. They are also responsible for ensuring environmental protection.
  • Customer Focus: Customers are the second priority after safety. The Fleet Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive ship management services and ensuring that customers fully benefit from the operational performance of their vessels.
  • Service Ownership: Owns the quality of service delivered to customers, making key decisions to ensure flawless service delivery. Acts as the primary liaison between the customer and their ship.
  • Team Leadership: Leads the Fleet team and onboard leadership to provide seamless service to customers while maintaining the highest safety standards. Ensures the team has the necessary support and skills to meet customer needs.
  • Training & Development: Mentors, trains, and develops both the Fleet team and shipboard leadership, providing necessary feedback and training to foster professional growth.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Management: Acts as the key point of contact for customers, building strong relationships through regular engagement. Encourages the team to do the same while proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Operational Efficiency: Utilizes tools such as ShipSure, CTD, and CSP to monitor Fleet  efficiency and address client concerns. Responsible for ensuring a strong safety culture, team morale, and high performance both onboard and ashore.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Ensures timely reporting and resolution of any issues impacting safety, environmental, or operational performance. Takes necessary actions to protect customer interests.
  • Resource & Planning Management: Manages dry dock schedules, vacations, and other absences to maintain uninterrupted operations. Raises concerns and seeks organizational support when needed.
  • Third-Party Inspections & Compliance: Ensures successful completion of inspections (SIRE, CDI, PSC) with minimal observations. Implements necessary precautions and support to maintain vessel compliance, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Crew & Internal Support: Ensures team and vessels are adequately staffed with competent personnel. Requests additional internal support when required and promptly raises concerns about any gaps in resources.
  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Approves the annual vessel operating budgets before submission, aligning with client timelines. Keeps customers informed of operational and financial matters, providing a 12-month rolling OPEX estimate for each vessel.
  • Business Development: Identifies and promotes services during customer interactions, proactively seeking new business opportunities.
  • Technology & Systems Advocacy: Champions the use of ShipSure and ensures its effective utilization. Provides support and constructive feedback to enhance the system.

Requirements:

  • Recognized maritime qualification and/or relevant sea experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a marine-related company, preferably as a Technical Superintendent or Vessel Manager.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
