Job Description

Contract Drafting & Administration:
  • Draft, review, and revise a wide range of shipping contracts, including Charter Parties, Bills of Lading, Service Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and Vendor Contracts.

  • Ensure all contract terms are clear, accurate, and aligned with company policies and risk tolerance.

  • Maintain a centralized contract repository and manage the contract execution process.

Analysis & Negotiation:

  • Analyze contract terms, including hire rates, demurrage & dispatch, laytime calculations, liability clauses, and termination rights.

  • Support the commercial team in negotiating favorable terms with clients, charterers, owners, and vendors.

  • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities within contract clauses.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.

  • Track key contractual dates, obligations, and renewal windows.

  • Assist in resolving disputes related to contract interpretation and performance, working closely with the Legal Department.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding contract queries.

  • Liaise with external parties, including brokers, lawyers, and clients, to clarify terms and resolve issues.

  • Prepare and disseminate contract summaries and reports for management.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Law, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of [2-4] years of experience in a contract administration, analyst, or paralegal role, specifically within the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry.

  • Proven experience with Charter Parties and standard shipping documentation (e.g., Bills of Lading, Statement of Facts).

  • Strong understanding of key shipping concepts (laytime, demurrage, freight, charter types).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
