Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze vessel movements impacting regional and global commodity trade flows using AIS data, satellite tracking, port intelligence, market information, and other available sources.
  • Maintain accurate visibility of vessel positions, cargo types, volumes, loading and discharge locations, and estimated schedules while validating and reconciling data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate with commercial and operational stakeholders to verify vessel-tracking insights, challenge assumptions, and ensure information remains accurate, timely, and actionable.
  • Identify and report unusual vessel activities such as route deviations, delays, destination changes, transshipments, prolonged idle periods, and other anomalies that may affect commercial decisions.
  • Track and communicate market-relevant developments, including fixture updates, cargo diversions, congestion, weather disruptions, port delays, and operational constraints impacting trade flows.
  • Enhance and automate vessel-tracking processes through data analytics, coding, and workflow optimization to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Manage, cleanse, and analyze large datasets from various maritime and operational sources to improve data quality and generate actionable insights.
  • Utilize modern data and analytical tools to support process automation and operational efficiency; experience with data platform technologies is beneficial.
  • Work closely with commercial, operational, and analytical teams to strengthen tracking capabilities, improve data integrity, and support broader market analysis.
  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives by developing more efficient tools, processes, and reporting methods for monitoring commodity trade flows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 1 year of experience within commercial shipping, maritime operations, commodity trading, energy, or related industries.
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate-level Python programming skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in marine commercial operations, commodity markets, shipping, or the energy sector.
  • Strong willingness to learn, develop new skills, and share knowledge with others.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working across multiple teams and functions.
