Job Description
Position Objective
Ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of crude oil, condensate, and LPG by securing suitable vessels through spot charters and COAs. Continuously review and improve existing COAs and evaluate time charter options to support operational reliability and commercial targets.
Strengthen chartering operations and market presence through strategic vessel allocation, market insights, and stakeholder collaboration. Build strong networks with brokers and shipowners to ensure access to competitive freight opportunities, and stay informed on freight markets to support future trading flexibility.
Job ScopeÂ

Negotiate with shipowners and brokers for tanker/VLGC charters via spot and COA markets, ensuring competitive freight terms.

Recommend improvements to chartering strategies, vessel planning, and cargo scheduling to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Advise traders on freight market trends to support commercial decisions.

Develop optimal vessel allocation plans based on market movements, seasonality, and availability.

Coordinate with operations for vessel scheduling, vetting, port restrictions, and risk mitigation.

Track freight rates, vessel positions, and market updates to propose timely and cost-efficient chartering solutions.

Maintain chartering records and participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings (buyers, sellers, terminals, JV partners, HQ, etc.).

Build strong relationships with key shipping contacts and participate in industry events to grow market access.
Requirements

Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Law, Commerce, or related field. NTU Maritime Studies graduates preferred.

At least 5 years of experience in tanker/VLGC chartering or freight desk operations in oil & gas or shipping companies.

Strong understanding of charter parties, laytime/demurrage, and oil shipping terms.

Experience in spot chartering, contract negotiation, and shipping operations is essential.

Familiar with maritime law, upstream contracts, and oil product quality (especially light distillates).

Proficient in MS Office and adaptable to trading and operational platforms.

Able to work under pressure, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
