Job Description

Job Summary:
The Chartering / Commercial Manager is responsible for managing chartering activities and commercial operations for stainless steel and chemical tanker vessels. The role focuses on maximizing vessel utilization, negotiating charter agreements, maintaining strong relationships with charterers and brokers, and ensuring profitable employment of the fleet within the stainless steel and chemical tanker market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the chartering and commercial activities of the company’s stainless steel and chemical tanker fleet.
  • Identify and secure profitable cargo opportunities for vessels through close coordination with brokers, charterers, and traders.
  • Negotiate charter party agreements including spot fixtures, time charters, and contracts of affreightment (COA).
  • Monitor market trends, freight rates, and competitor activities within the chemical and stainless steel tanker sector.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with charterers, brokers, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure optimal vessel scheduling and utilization in coordination with operations and technical teams.
  • Review charter party terms and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Prepare voyage estimates, evaluate commercial viability, and maximize revenue performance.
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic input to management regarding fleet deployment and business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth execution of voyages and customer satisfaction.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in Chartering / Commercial operations.
  • Experience specifically in the Stainless Steel / Chemical Tanker Business is required.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker charter party agreements and industry practices.
  • Established network with tanker brokers, charterers, and traders is an advantage.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced commercial shipping environment.
  • Strong understanding of tanker markets, freight dynamics, and voyage economics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipping-related commercial systems.
