Job Description:

1. Cost Estimation & Analysis

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and project timelines for ship repair, conversion, and newbuilding projects, covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Review technical drawings, project specifications, and client requirements to determine accurate scope and costs.
  • Ensure all cost components are properly documented and comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

2. Tender & Quotation Preparation

  • Prepare and submit tenders or quotations in response to client requests or bidding opportunities.
  • Coordinate with procurement, production, and engineering teams to verify cost inputs, schedules, and resource availability.
  • Update estimates as project specifications or conditions evolve.

3. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and department leads to gather information and validate technical requirements.
  • Participate in tender meetings, site inspections, and client discussions when necessary.
  • Liaise with Finance and management for pricing approvals and commercial strategy alignment.

4. Cost Control & Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date records of labour rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Provide input for post-project reviews to enhance future estimation accuracy.
  • Support the development of cost-control measures and project profitability analysis.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ship repair, conversion, or newbuilding cost estimation within a shipyard setting.
  • Solid understanding of ship structures, systems, and repair processes.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams and clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Experience in yard production is advantageous.
  • Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual skills are advantageous, as projects may involve coordination with foreign counterparts.
