1. Cost Estimation & Analysis
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and project timelines for ship repair, conversion, and newbuilding projects, covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Review technical drawings, project specifications, and client requirements to determine accurate scope and costs.
- Ensure all cost components are properly documented and comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Tender & Quotation Preparation
- Prepare and submit tenders or quotations in response to client requests or bidding opportunities.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, and engineering teams to verify cost inputs, schedules, and resource availability.
- Update estimates as project specifications or conditions evolve.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and department leads to gather information and validate technical requirements.
- Participate in tender meetings, site inspections, and client discussions when necessary.
- Liaise with Finance and management for pricing approvals and commercial strategy alignment.
4. Cost Control & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date records of labour rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
- Provide input for post-project reviews to enhance future estimation accuracy.
- Support the development of cost-control measures and project profitability analysis.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ship repair, conversion, or newbuilding cost estimation within a shipyard setting.
- Solid understanding of ship structures, systems, and repair processes.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
- Experience in yard production is advantageous.
- Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual skills are advantageous, as projects may involve coordination with foreign counterparts.
