Job Description

Role:

  • Manage complete sets of accounts and oversee daily financial operations, including but not limited to General Ledger, Journal Entries, Cash and Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate closing of monthly and yearly accounts, with proper supporting documentation, and perform reconciliations for both payables and receivables.
  • Handle expense control and payment processing by verifying and reconciling invoices against relevant documents such as purchase requisitions, orders, delivery notes, and receipts.
  • Prepare and execute payments through cheques, GIRO, or telegraphic transfers, ensuring payments are made promptly.
  • Manage intercompany accounting activities and perform reconciliation of bank statements and balance sheets.
  • Generate and issue invoices, and address any discrepancies found during reconciliation.
  • Prepare statutory financial reports and tax filings, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax laws and statutory requirements.
  • Develop monthly cash flow projections to support financial planning.
  • Process petty cash claims in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory-related tasks, including stock counts and periodic inventory cycle checks.
  • Maintain and regularly update vendor records within the accounting system.
  • Coordinate and support both internal and external audit activities.
  • Ensure all financial transactions adhere to company policies and are duly authorized.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc assignments as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Accountancy, LCCI, or a recognized accounting qualification.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in full sets of accounts, preferably within the shipping or maritime sector.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Navision or Business Central is a strong advantage.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in handling financial data.
