Job Description

  • The Marine Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of their assigned Oil and Oil-Chemical Tankers.

Role:

  • Ensure vessels execute voyages and operations in full compliance with Charterers’ Voyage Orders, adhering strictly to owners’ policies and procedures.
  • Arrange and manage vetting inspections, including submissions to the OCIMF SIRE platform.
  • Conduct onboard or remote pre-vetting inspections for assigned vessels.
  • Oversee vessels’ navigational operations, including reviewing passage plans and conducting navigation audits.
  • Ensure compliance with terminal, operator, oil major, and charterer requirements.
  • Liaise with and manage matters related to Flag State and Port State authorities.
  • Ensure that Q88 and HVPQ documents are continuously updated.
  • Provide advice on regulatory changes, industry requirements, and best practices.
  • Promote and manage health, safety, and environmental compliance on vessels.
  • Plan and execute ship visits for assigned vessels in coordination with senior management.
  • Assist the GM with planning and executing crew changes as required.
  • Offer recommendations for improvements to the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Provide vessels with necessary guidance and information on relevant issues.
  • Support, train, and enforce crew competency and discipline.
  • Assist with queries regarding vessel capabilities and performance.
  • Serve as a member of the company’s emergency response team.
  • Perform various tasks assigned by senior management related to the role.
  • Maintain close communication with owners and charterers to ensure smooth vessel operations.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Superintendent to ensure efficient vessel operations within budget constraints.

Requirements:

  • Seagoing experience as a Master or Chief Officer on Oil and Oil/Chemical Tankers, or a minimum of 2 years of shore experience managing Oil/Product and Oil/Chemical Tankers.
  • Experience in safety, health, and environmental management and compliance specific to Oil and Oil/Chemical tankers.
  • Additional sailing experience on chemical tankers is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of international and local maritime regulations.
  • Results-driven with high integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Proactive approach with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice.
